New look. same mission.

We are so excited to finally share this rebranding project that our team has planned for and worked on over the last few months.

In 2013, AWAKE was born from an informal, issues-based community dedicated to progress for women and kids. Over the following five years, our nonprofit has earned a reputation for acting efficiently, strategically, and collaboratively in order to fulfill our vision of a state that holistically protects and advances its most marginalized. With limited resources and a fully-volunteer team, AWAKE was able to successfully draft, lobby for, and pass eight pieces of legislation, launch a state-wide educational campaign on child abuse prevention, develop a truancy intervention program, and facilitate curriculum around healthy relationships and finances alongside community partners. The drivers behind this movement have reflected a broad coalition of change-makers: teachers, students, mothers, survivors, public servants, professionals, policy-shapers, and individuals who were simply tired of the status quo.

Since 2018, we have made purposeful investments in growing our impact: hiring organizational leadership, creating strategic partnerships, professionalizing internal systems, and encouraging folks across the state to be an active part of creating a more equitable society. Through these efforts, our core missions has remained the same: to advocate for the advancement of women and kids in Tennessee through education and policy change.

As the team remains tenacious about our mandate, we knew it was important for our brand to match our organizational identity: bold, innovative, dynamic, collaborative, grassroots, and action-oriented. Our intention is that this brand refresh will signify our commitment to progress and our positivity about the future. This is just the beginning for AWAKE. As we more accurately represent who we are through marketing, messaging, and design, our board of directors and leadership is looking forward to evolving other aspects of the organization to ensure our impact is thoughtful, equitable, and transformative.
