Kill Bill Party Highlights Importance of Legislative Focus

On Wednesday, July 10th, AWAKE gathered with supporters, new members, and fellow advocates to celebrate our victory this session, killing (at least temporarily) SB 1341 which sought to dismantle the domestic violence dispossession form.

While we successfully stopped this dangerous legislation at the close at last session, it passed the House and could be quickly passed in the Senate if we are not vigilant. According to the Giffords Law Center, "domestic violence assaults involving a gun are 12 times more likely to result in death than those involving other weapons or bodily force." This form saves lives and protects survivors, and we cannot allow it to be replaced with something weaker. To get connected with our fight to save this form and continue to advocate for women and kids, email today.
