Call for Summer Interns
Position Description: AWAKE summer interns are an integral part of our education and advocacy initiatives and our overall operations as we seek to expand and hire an Executive Director. Summer interns will attend meetings with board members, conduct field research and meet with various community leaders, teach our Healthy Relationships & Finances curriculum, research write applicable grants, and contribute ideas and insights. Applicants must be self motivated, passionate about our mission, and ready to help with any and all of our nonprofit's various activities and programs.
Expectations: Interns will teach our curriculum to children in our community partners' summer programs. (This summer we are working with Big Brothers Big Sisters and Girls Inc.) Interns will also update our curriculum lessons and incorporate technology. Interns will conduct both field research and traditional research regarding new policy and/or program initiatives as directed by the executive board. Interns will develop surveys and collect data for our initiatives. Interns are also expected to help plan and attend all major AWAKE events that occur during the internship period. Grant writing skills and experience are preferred.
Undergraduates and Graduate students (including JD, PhD, and MA candidates) should apply.
Instructions to Apply:
The internship program will run from June 4-July 31. AWAKE plans to accept two interns for the 8 week period. Interns should expect to work between 20 and 30 hours each week. The positions are unpaid, but all materials and some gas and/or travel expenses will be covered. Interns are eligible to earn course credit as part of their work.
Interns will need to secure their own transportation to and from work sites.
